Year 1 – 6 Curriculum

The Curriculum at Emmaus Catholic Primary School encompasses everything the students experience from the time of entering the school grounds until the students exit the grounds at the end of the school day.

The curriculum assessment, standards and reporting are as advised by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA).

Learning content and processes are underpinned by the SCSA, the Early Years Framework and the National Quality Standards as well as the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) Standards.

The learning programs offered at Emmaus Catholic Primary School are designed to cater for the diverse needs, abilities and aptitudes of students and the staff are committed to contemporary teaching and learning practices. Students are encouraged to communicate, collaborate, think critically and be creative problem solvers. In turn, our curriculum delivery aims to be relevant to students, be rich and timely, emphasise deep learning and higher order thinking, integrate ICT and learning goals, incorporate evidence-based practices and prepare students for life and learning beyond the classroom.

ICT

At Emmaus, we ignite a passion for learning within every child. Within an environment of warmth and trust, we encourage students to embrace independence, foster creative expression, build self-awareness, and grow spiritually. Together, we inspire them to become confident decision-makers and active participants in their learning journey.

Information and Communication Technology is an integral element of learning at Emmaus Catholic Primary School and plays a significant role in the students’ development as 21st Century learners. Students from K-2 have access to a bank of iPads to access digital resources and create their own content. Years 3-6 work on a 1 to 1 iPad program. Embedded in all children’s lessons are the requirements for digital citizenship.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PROGRAM

In addition to classroom music lessons, an instrumental music program is offered through Focus Music for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students can register for one-on-one or small group lessons, facilitated by skilled tutors on a weekly basis. A rotating timetable ensures minimal disruption to classroom learning by scheduling lessons at varying times each week. See the flyer to register your child:
