Vision and Values

Emmaus Catholic Primary School’s vision is centred on Luke’s Gospel narrative of the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).

Our school motto:

This motto reminds us that for many students and their families, Emmaus Catholic Primary School will be where they encounter and journey with Jesus as part of their experience of school life. We work interactively with all stakeholders as a community of faith to nourish and deepen relationships with Christ to make an authentic difference in every student’s life journey.

Our school Vision:

Emmaus Catholic Primary School is a faith-filled, inclusive and family-oriented community committed to a Christ-centred, child-focused approach to education. Students are empowered to achieve personal success and inspired to live a life of purpose in a respectful and nurturing environment. We work together and journey together to achieve this vision.

Emmaus CPS Factions

Kaartdijin

Noongar meaning:
Knowledge
Representing:
HUMILITY

Just as the disciples on the Road to Emmaus discerned deeply and gained great KNOWLEDGE through their encounter with Jesus, Kaartdijin reminds
students to approach knowledge with HUMILITY and understand that wisdom is a lifelong journey.

Koort

Noongar meaning:
Hearts Together
Representing:
HOPE

Derived from the Noongar phrase HEARTS TOGETHER, this faction emphasises the power of HOPE, unity and shared aspirations. As the disciples’ hearts were ignited with hope on their journey, Koort inspires students to foster a sense of optimism, compassion and shared ambitions as a school community.

Maara

Noongar meaning:
Hands
Representing:
TRUST

Jesus guided the disciples on the Road to Emmaus and invites all
his followers to walk HAND in HAND with him. Maara encourages students to TRUST in their own abilities, knowledge and gifts, apply these in practical ways, and ultimately trust in our Lord who guides us continuously in life and in our learning.

Bardan

Noongar meaning:
Spirit
Representing:
FAITH

Bardan embodies the SPIRIT aspect of our students’ educational journey. Just as the disciples’ encounter with the risen Christ renewed their FAITH and realisation of His fulfilled promise, Bardan emphasises the importance of faith-based teaching and experiences that nurture the spirit within each student, instilling Christian values and connection.

Our Vision for Learning

At Emmaus Catholic Primary School, our Vision for Learning reflects our commitment to nurturing every child academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Guided by Christ, we strive to create a learning community where every student is known, valued and empowered to flourish.

Our vision is grounded in the four core values of Faith, Hope, Humility and Trust, which shape the way we teach, learn and relate to one another each day. These values underpin our commitment to ensuring every learner is:

  • Empowered to Flourish through nurturing learning environments that prioritise wellbeing, build resilience and foster confidence.
  • Supported to Succeed by implementing contemporary, evidence-informed teaching practices that provide personalised guidance and enable every student to achieve their full potential.
  • Connected to Belong by fostering meaningful relationships and a strong sense of community where every child feels safe, respected, valued and included.

Together, these aspirations inspire a culture where curiosity is encouraged, individuality is celebrated, and every learner is challenged to grow. As we journey together, we remain committed to providing an inclusive and faith-filled education that equips our students with the knowledge, skills and values to make a positive difference in the world.

“At Emmaus, guided by Christ, we nurture an inclusive learning community, grounded in trust, where every child’s dignity is respected and their unique potential is cultivated.”
